Fostering JJ

We fostered Jan, who we called JJ, for 10 days. It was fun having her in our home. She was the first dog we fostered in 2008 and it had been about 13 months since our last foster dog. We took a long hiatus as we started 2 Feet 4 Paws and got the business up and running. We finally are at the point where we can foster from time to time.

JJ was definitely a fun foster dog. She loved playing and after a couple of days got along with our dogs. They accepted her quickly and even enjoyed playing with her. She followed me around wherever I went. Most foster dogs attach to me since they're around me most of the time.

We suspect that she was abused in a previous home. We found that she barked at most men who entered the store and was very leery around most people. But once she felt like she could trust a person she was all about getting attention. Andrew also had to get her used to him raising his arms over her head, a clear sign of past abuse.

JJ got to go to a great forever home. She has an older canine brother and two human parents to spoil her. I've heard that she adjusted well and is loving her new life.

Friday Photo - Unwrapped

If you celebrate Christmas we hope that you're not buried in wrapping paper like Haven. She loves tearing balled up wrapping paper into pieces. Eventually she gets herself so tired that she can't stay awake.

Friday Photo - Three Dog Hike

Last weekend Andrew went on a hike with Beacon, Haven, and Jan (who is still with us). Jan is one of the few foster dogs we've had that we've trusted off leash in the woods with our dogs. She had a blast and came back totally worn out.

I like how you can see a bunch of paw prints around the dogs in the above photo that Andrew took.

Friday Photo - Jan

Jan is our latest foster dog. It has been a little over a year since we've had a foster dog in our home. It's nice to have one again. Jan has been with us for a day and a half after being ready to leave her puppies, which will be put on Petfinder today.

Jan has adjusted well to being here and loves being spoiled.

Friday Photo - Snowball Bling

Snow has been flying here in the midwest for the past week or so. We'll likely not see the grass until spring now.

The above photo was taken in 2006. Andrew thought that Haven needed some bling. The dogs love playing in the snow whether it's chasing snowballs or hiking in the woods. You can see a recent video that Andrew took of the dogs and a snowman in our backyard here.
